It was my first Killers concert and I didn’t know what to expect – it felt great not knowing what to expect. lol. It was great to finally see them live. I had been trying to get tickets since their first album, but it’s always sold out so quickly.
The stage design wasn’t that special to be honest nor was the visual images that they’re using througout the concert. Average i would say. Nevertheless, it was their repertoire that makes them one of the biggest bands in the world at the moment.
They opened the gig with HUMAN, their massive hits from the last album. It was magic, I could see everyone in the stadium just jumping around and dancing through out the song. It truly was amazing. Hits after hits for 1.5 hours. From crowd favourites such as Somebody Told Me, Smile Like You Mean It (i love the accoustic version they did!), Mr Brightside to the lesser known such as The World That We Live In, A Dustland Fairytale (from the last album). The crowd was sing along to Flower’s daft lyrics.
Brandon Flower as always doing this funny dance move which was quite entertaining to watch. He’s done a very good job with his vocal though. The only thing they lack was communication. He didn’t seem to talk much, just kept singing song after song. However it was ok, it didn’t bother me at all.
The venue itself had got some problems with the sound systems (from where I sat anyway – which wasn’t that far from the stage). It was really echoy and quite alot of feedback for the first 3-4 songs. Although they seemed to fix it with some random feedback here and there.
Conclusion: This isn’t gonna be my last Killers concert. I know i will definitely come to their next one, hopefully i will get standing tickets for a better experience.
Rating:4/5 (i would give it a 5 if the sound was better).
The Ting Tings
Live at The Forum London
October 2008
I like The Ting Tings, i think they’re great. They’re music is quite catchy, fun, and current. However their pop / electro sound made me wonder, would they sound good live? I know alot of my friends said they’re really good live, but i have to see it myself.
Glad i went to the gig. Couldn’t believe how these duo were in absolute control of the stage. Their performance was tight, energetic, edgy, and raw, without . I love how Katie played the guitar (nothing amazing – but she looked great!) and how Jules banging the drums in so much power. They’re just interesting to watch.
For me i think the highlight was when they’re playing they’re new single “Be The One” it sounded so different than the album version… as i said before it sounded so raw, it’s absolutely amazing. And of course they played their other hits like “Great DJ”, “Shut Up and Let Me Go”, “That’s Not My Name”.
The crowd went crazy during the gig. I actually had to be careful with my camera, i didnt want any beer on it!!
Here are the videos from the gig in no particular order
Lagian penasaran banget sama lagu-lagu barunya.
Konser dimulai agak telat. Jam 9.20pm baru mulai. Langsung di buka sama single terbarunya “The Lovers Are Losing”. Suka banget gue sama ini lagu, it’s got Keane’s signature all over it. No doubt it will be a classic. Terus dilanjutin sama lagu baru berjudul, “Better Than This”. Upbeat, 80’s synths, high pitch vocal, very catchy actually. Pertama denger lagu ini (di youtube) agak2 aneh… but it’s a grower. Pas konser it sounded a lot better. Lumayan bikin penonton panas. Gak pake basi lagu berikutnya dari album pertamanya “This Is The Last Time”… penonton langsung koor bareng. ah.. seru banget.
Berhubung tujuan utama konser ini buat promosi lagu2 barunya jadi mereka gak gitu banyak maeinin lagu2 lama nya. So… gimana menurut gue album barunya? Based on the gig it sounded alot better than their 2nd album. Tapi jgn harap sama dengan album2 sebelomnya. Perfect Symmetry lebih banyak sound 80s nya (seperti Spiralling, Better Than This). But that’s what’s great bout Keane. Tiap album gak sama. Walaupun ada beberapa lagu yg tetep classic Keane seperti (The Lovers are Losing, Perfect Symmetry dan Love is The End – yg mirip sama Bedshaped).
Lagu-lagu lama yg dimaenin antara laen : This Is The Last Time, Somewhere Only We Know (dapet sambutan paling meriah… tepuk tangan sampe lebih dari 5 menit… Tom sampe speechless), Everybody’s Changing, Is It Any Wonder, Bedshaped, Bad Dream.
Total durasi konser sekitar 1.5 jam.
Penonton puas banget sama konser nya. I know i did. Jadi gak sabar buat beli album Perfect Symmetry.
Rating: 4/5 (only because it’s too short compared to their previous gigs). Jgn lupa cek video2nya:
Gue sebenernya gak tau banyak soal Jason Mraz, tapi gue nekat nonton konsernya soalnya dipaksa temen-temen yg pada suka semua. Jadi ya udah lah.. why not? sekalian denger lagu2 baru, lagian setau gue lagu2nya mirip Jack Johnson (santai, akustik).
Bahkan gue sempet sms temen gue (duduknya kepisah) nanya judul lagu yg kebetulan gue suka banget, Make It Mine – very upbeat full of horns – quite funky actually. Konsernya bisa dibilang cukup bagus Mraz cukup kocak & interaktif sama penonton (sekalian buang2 waktu kali ya) dan penonton nya juga ikut aja apa yg diminta Mraz.. jadi makin rame. Selaen bawain lagu2 sendiri, Mraz juga bawain beberapa lagu orang seperti Oh Happy Day, Build Me Up Buttercup (i love his version), Oasis’ Wonderwall.
Ada satu hal yg cukup mengganggu konser: sound systemnya jelek banget. Suaranya mendem banget. Jadi kurang bisa enjoy. Di tambah gue yg kurang familiar (pelajaran – laen kali research dulu sebelom nonton konser yg gak tau) dan lebih parahnya konsernya cenderung sebentar banget cuman 1 jam 20 menit, kurang sebanding dengan harga tiket yg £25.
Tapi yg pasti pulang konser gue beli beberapa lagu Mraz dari Itunes and they’ve been on repeat on my ipod for the last few days. Nice one! Maybe next concert will be a better experience for me.
Stevie Wonder
Live in London at The O2 Arena
11th September 2008
Sapa yg nyangka akhirnya kesampean juga nonton Stevie Wonder. Salah satu musisi paling genius yg pernah gue denger. Tapi untungnya gue salah. This concert is one of the best i’ve seen, if not the best.
Gak gitu kehalang sama bule2 yg tinggi2.
Konser dimulai jam 8.30pm, Stevie masuk panggung di anterin sama anak perempuan nya (yg jadi sumber inspirasi lagu Isn’t She Lovely). Stevie ngejelasin kenapa dia ngadain tour lagi, ternyata gara-gara ibu nya yg baru saja meninggal dunia.
Tanpa banyak ngomong Steive langsung buka konser nya sama lagu-lagu yg upbeat All Blues, As If You Read My Mind, Master Blaster, Living For The City. Amazing. Bertubi-tubi Stevie bawain lagu-lagu hits lainnya sampe akhir konser nya yg berdurasi total 2.5 jam – nonstop – mulai dari Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours, Superstition sampai penutupan As (yg terakhir ngetop lagi gara-gara George Michael & Mary J Blidge)! Lebih gila nya udah 2.5 jam pun gak semua hits nya dimaenin (You’re The Sunshine of My Life, For Once In My Life, Kiss Lonely Goodbye, etc). Beginilah akibat musisi kelebihan hits.
I grew up listening to his songs (thanks to my mum!) and he delivered the perfect concert. Worth every penny. A true legend.
