Jon Allen – In Your Light

In Accoustic, Music Video, Pop on May 16, 2009 at 3:31 pm

There’s a new singer-songwriter, his name is Jon Allen, he wrote a beautiful song “In Your Light”. It’s a very good song. It’s been a while since anyone actually wrote a good simple song like this. Can’t wait to hear his other songs. Will he make it big? We’ll see…

Esser – Headlock

Crazy hair style, thick accent, weird sound… don’t you just love Esser. Careful, highly addictive. Just pump up the volume!

Loney Dear – Airport Surroundings

In Pop, Stuff I Love on March 5, 2009 at 1:06 pm

Loney Dear is basically a one man band from Sweden. Everything is played and recorded by Emil Svanängen in his bedroom. He only just signed by a major record label for his latest album Dear John (although this is actually his 5th album) and the first single is Airport Surroundings.

It’s classic Loney Dear with a bit of 80’s twist. The “na na na” is still there combined with lots of synths and Warren G’s style rap.  Don’t freak out, it actually sounds nice. It starts with upbeat drums and funky bassline which is quite a departure for Loney Dear, normally he likes to start slow and build up towards the end.

The song is now available on iTunes. Although i have to say, i prefer the album version than the one on the video

Ladyhawke’s burning Paris

In Pop on February 28, 2009 at 12:27 am

There’s a new cool singer from New Zealand called Ladyhawke. Her first debut single “Paris is Burning” is currently one of the top spins on UK radios. This song has got a catchy chorus with 80’s influenced synths. Nice production i must say, not too over produced.

Jamie Lidell – Another Day

In Pop, Soul, Stuff I Love on February 28, 2009 at 12:16 am

I saw GMTV Morning advert on TV and was wowed by the song they use. I did a bit of googling and found out it was Jamie Lidell – Another Day. It’s released a year ago, I can’t believe I never heard of him before. No matter how sad you are this song will cheer you up for sure.

When i first heard the song, i thought.. wow a new song from Snow Patrol. But it turned out to be Take That. I actually really like the song, it’s very catchy, uplifting and  has got a nice nice nice melody. Hats off to Gary Barlow, he does write great music.

The Ting Tings Live in London – Oct 2008

In Concerts, Pop on October 16, 2008 at 11:24 pm

The Ting Tings
Live at The Forum London
October 2008

I like The Ting Tings, i think they’re great. They’re music is quite catchy, fun, and current. However their pop / electro sound made me wonder, would they sound good live? I know alot of my friends said they’re really good live, but i have to see it myself.

Glad i went to the gig. Couldn’t believe how these duo were in absolute control of the stage. Their performance was tight, energetic, edgy, and raw,  without . I love how Katie played the guitar (nothing amazing – but she looked great!) and how Jules banging the drums in so much power. They’re just interesting to watch.

For me i think the highlight was when they’re playing they’re new single “Be The One” it sounded so different than the album version… as i said before it sounded so raw, it’s absolutely amazing. And of course they played their other hits like “Great DJ”, “Shut Up and Let Me Go”, “That’s Not My Name”.

The crowd went crazy during the gig. I actually had to be careful with my camera, i didnt want any beer on it!!

Here are the videos from the gig in no particular order

Kaiser Chiefs – Never Miss A Beat

In Indie, Pop on October 9, 2008 at 12:15 am

Never Miss a Beat dari album ke 3 nya Kaiser Chiefs yg di produserin sama producer of the moment Mark Ronson.

Singlenya yg berjudul One Day Like This lagi ngetop-ngetopnya disini. Di puter di radio Non Stop.

This is a great song. Back to basic, great music with great melody.

Jason Mraz Live at Royal Albert Hall, London 2008

In Concerts, Pop on September 27, 2008 at 1:49 am

Gue sebenernya gak tau banyak soal Jason Mraz, tapi gue nekat nonton konsernya soalnya dipaksa temen-temen yg pada suka semua. Jadi ya udah lah.. why not? sekalian denger lagu2 baru, lagian setau gue lagu2nya mirip Jack Johnson (santai, akustik).

Bahkan gue sempet sms temen gue (duduknya kepisah) nanya judul lagu yg kebetulan gue suka banget, Make It Mine – very upbeat full of horns – quite funky actually. Konsernya bisa dibilang cukup bagus Mraz cukup kocak & interaktif sama penonton (sekalian buang2 waktu kali ya) dan penonton nya juga ikut aja apa yg diminta Mraz.. jadi makin rame. Selaen bawain lagu2 sendiri, Mraz juga bawain beberapa lagu orang seperti Oh Happy Day, Build Me Up Buttercup (i love his version), Oasis’ Wonderwall.

Ada satu hal yg cukup mengganggu konser: sound systemnya jelek banget. Suaranya mendem banget. Jadi kurang bisa enjoy. Di tambah gue yg kurang familiar (pelajaran – laen kali research dulu sebelom nonton konser yg gak tau) dan lebih parahnya konsernya cenderung sebentar banget cuman 1 jam 20  menit, kurang sebanding dengan harga tiket yg £25.

Tapi yg pasti pulang konser gue beli beberapa lagu Mraz dari Itunes and they’ve been on repeat on my ipod for the last few days. Nice one! Maybe next concert will be a better experience for me.

Rihanna – Disturbia

In Pop, R&B, Stuff I Hate on September 25, 2008 at 12:11 am

Rating 1.5/5

Mystery Jets – Two Doors Down

In Pop on September 22, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Kayaknya sound 80s lagi mulai populer lagi nih. Salah satu band yg musiknya 80s banget namanya Mystery Jets. You gotta love the chorus, the synths and the classic sax. Perfect summer song. Rating 4/5

The Ting Tings – Be The One

In Pop, Stuff I Love on September 21, 2008 at 11:52 pm

Buat yg belom tau The Ting Tings, mereka group band baru dari Inggris yg lagi ngetop banget disini. Semua single yg di release sama mereka jadi hits disini, mulai dari Great DJ, That’s Not My Name (probably their biggest hit so far), Shut Up and Let Me Go dan baru-baru ini mereka nge-release single terbarunya Be The One.

Gue kebetulan suka banget sama 2 single pertamanya tapi kurang impressed sama Shut Up and Let Me Go.

Untungnya Be The One musiknya lebih santai, buat gue somehow mengingatkan akan The Cardigans. Enak buat di dengerin pas lagi relax. Rating: 4/5
